Marine Services (asbestos removal)

PCB provides asbestos removal and tank cleaning services to the marine industry.

Since 2002, the installation of asbestos containing materials (ACMs) on board ships had been prohibited except only for very limited uses. As 2011, the installation of ACMs on board was completely prohibited without any exceptions.

Many people are unaware as to the historic and wide-spread use of asbestos in the shipping and marine industry. In fact, only within the last decade has the installation of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) been prohibited without exception.

As such, many new vessels that were introduced from developing countries have been proven to contain ACM’s including sprayed asbestos coatings, insulations and lagging.

The removal of ACM’s is regarded to be of higher risk as these materials are more likely to release larger quantities of dangerous asbestos fibres when being removed.

This means that it is imperative that removal of these ACM’s is undertaken by licensed contractors. As specialists in asbestos removal and tank cleaning services to the marine industry, the experienced team at PCB will work with you to formulate the removal of this dangerous material and provide you with welcome peace of mind.
